The children read the story 'The Cow That Laid an Egg'... do you think cows really lay eggs? We have done lots of research into oviparous animals. Can you write a list of animals that lay eggs?
Our chicks have been busy pipping and 5 have hatched! Check back for further chick updates and find out what we name them! 🐣🐣🐣🐣🐣
The EYFS parents and children have been experimenting at our Mad Science Family Friday! Old Macdonald visited school after the boys and girls went home last night and left us some eggs! We weren't sure what kind of eggs they were so we had to investigate! Some of the children researched oviparous animals (animals that lay eggs) using the laptops and iPads. Some of the children read a non fiction book about eggs; they thought we might have penguin eggs, but then we discovered that penguin eggs measure 11-12cm, and ours measure 6cm. Some of the children looked at duck, hen and quail eggs and then compared them to the eggs in the incubator. Some of the children read 'The Odd Egg' and decided our eggs definitely weren't crocodiles! We got an email from Old Macdonald confirming that they are actually chicks! We can't wait for them to hatch!
Supertatoes to the rescue! Wow! Reception children have been super busy creating hero potato heads with their families for the World Book Day home learning challenge. Well Done everybody! This afternoon the children have been exploring form and function as they learn about droids. The children have been engaging in collaborative droid building and have challenged themselves to think about what droids look like and what they can do. They thought of there own droid names, wrote a droid name label and presented their droid to the class.
Miss Haydon was queen for the day today, and the children have worked together to make a dress fit for royalty! There was lots of great teamwork to measure, design and make a dress! Miss Haydon also got to visit the salon and have her hair and nails done!
This week our lovely mums and dads came to explore creative activities with us. Our super work is now displayed in the Ladybirds Art Gallery! We painted, printed, drew, collaged and practised our cutting skills. We have been exploring colour and texture. Click on the button to read the Early Learning Goals we are working towards.
Can you guess what we will be learning about next? |
