It's Sports Week at Pikes Lane!
What are you most looking forward to this week? Which race would you like to do on Sports Day? Which house will win? Today is 'Health and Well-being' Day!
What does 'health and well-being' mean to you? Year 6 have had a tough week! They have been completing their SATs this week and have shown fantastic attitudes towards all of the tricky tests!
As a reward, today they have been able to wear their own clothes, enjoy party food and the the ice cream van even visited! Well done Year 6! 😊 It's Science Week at Pikes Lane!
We've started the week with a fantastic Science Show! We were shown lots of amazing Science experiments and met 'Brainless Bradley' and 'Knows-nothing Lowe'! What was your favourite part of the show? In year 6, we've started our new Science unit where we will learn lots about the circulatory system, the heart, how exercise effects our heart rate and how water and nutrients are transported in our bodies. This morning we started our heart rate investigation and made sure that we made it a fair test. Year 6 - can you tell everyone what we did and how we kept it a fair test? We are reading a book written by Neil West called Holly the Freak. We are meeting the author on Wednesday... I wonder what we will find out.
This week year 5 and 6 have started their new Pikes Lane Learning Jouney Passports!
As you can see, they are full of exciting skills and experiences which the children are going to try to complete before they leave us at the end of year 6! Remember that we need to see some evidence that you have completed them so take photographs and videos on your iPads! We look forward to seeing what you have been doing! :) Today Year 6 went to 'Crucial Crew'!
They took part in workshops to help them stay safe in the wider World. Above, you can see how the children practised putting somebody in the recovery position! They learnt all about anti-social behaviour, using the internet safely and road safety. Which was your favourite workshop? What did Crucial Crew teach you? 😊 Today we were visited by a special visitor who has climbed all the way to the top of Mount Everest!
He told us many interesting stories about his mountaineering - which one was your favourite? How did he survive his experiences? Do you think you could survive climbing a mountain that high? We have been working really hard in Year 6 so we were rewarded with a special trip to Bolton's Winter Wonderland!
We had a great time! Well done Year 6! Keep up the hard work! 😊 We've had a super 'Life Skills Day!' In Upper Key Stage 2! Everybody took part in 4 workshops today. They all helped to develop our Life Skills! We improved our teamwork skills, our communication skills, our disability awareness and our cooking skills! What at was your favourite part of the day? Which life skills did you develop? Which life skills do you still need work on? This week we shall write our biographies about Queen Victoria!
What have you found out about her? What will you include in your biography about Victoria? |
