The sea lions caught hoops and balls, got litter from the water, pretended to be sharks and did flips, we found out that they used these skills in the wild to catch fish (their prey) and scare away predators! (click the numbers to see more pictures) The elephant was using her strong trunk to crush branches and eat her food, we found out that she is a herbivore! We have been having lots of fun being creative in DT this week, we have been designing and making our own bird feeders! I cannot wait to see the finished products!
In Literacy we retold the story Handa's Surprise, which is from another culture. We looked at the different African animals and fruits in the story. Miss McAfee got some different African fruits for us to taste (we loved some but the lemon was tangy and bitter!) we used adjectives, like in the story, to describe them. We then changed the animals to create our own stories and wrote them using such amazing language! Miss McAfee was very proud of our final big write! In Maths we practised finding fractions with the fruits!
