Last week, you saw and contributed to our post about spooky vocabulary, and phrases we magpied from a few horror story extracts we looked at. Thank-you for all of your comments.
Well, we turned those into horror story openings - and I'm really pleased with how we got on! Have a look at Uways' work. I think we might have the next Goosebumps author in out midst. Just don't read it last thing at night... ! What's your favourite part of the story? Do you have any useful feedback for Uways? Our Reading Detective for class 6RS is PC Superspy - working out why the author has chosen a certain word.
Can you look through your books and find any exciting words that the author has chosen for a reason? Make a note of them in the comments below! Don't forget to explain why you think the author picked that word... Do you remember how much fun we had last Wednesday taking part in football maths?
What was your favourite part, and why? I really enjoyed making my fantasy football team, and calculating how many millions of pounds it would cost! But playing the games in the hall was great fun, too. Let's all say a huge thank-you to Mr Plowman for organising this event! To help us with our writing, we have been 'stealing' words from a spooky setting description. I'm looking forward to seeing your phrases in tomorrow's big writing task.
Can you list some of your favourite magpied phrases below? In maths, we have been sorting triangles!
You were allowed to organise them in any way that you thought would be best. It was great to see lots of mathematical thinking and collaboration. Well done, Year 6! Can anyone name the types of triangles in the comments, and define their properties? Today, you all received your new Assertive Mentoring targets!

Today, we watched a short clip of a movie to inspire us with some excellent vocabulary. We're going to be writing stories based on the clip.
