He used it for a better word than cheerful and hopeful. I think the character was feeling confident and and she always looked on the bright side. She had a positive attitude.

The writer used the phrase 'jumping with joy'. This means the character is very happy or excited about something and you wouldn't be jumping with joy if you were sad.

The writer has used the word obsidian because obsidian is a dark black stone formed from lava when a volcano erupts. Also they are really dark black which might mean that the object they were describing may have been dark black.

In my book the author used surreptitious for what the character was doing. I think she used this because the character was doing it sneakily. Also it is a very good up level word for sneaky and silently.

I was reading a book and there was this word shocked. He used shocked and I think he used it because the sentence was 'i was shocked when he got a love letter ' The author used the word shocked because probably the boy has never got anything like that ever before and the girl got really excited.

kill that brat was a phrase in my reading book. I think the author used that because the character could be really annoying so the other character is just really annoyed and has had enough. I don't think I would want a brother or cousin like that.
