Have you ever wondered what it smells like?
Have you ever wondered what it tastes like?
This week is the start of our new topic "The Farm" and I thought it would be a nice idea to look at the fruit and vegetables that grow on the farm. As it is still a little chilly I decided to plant my own strawberries so that the children could pick them, but during warmer months you could go fruit picking. If your looking for a day out on a Saturday or Sunday then why not visit Kenyon Hall Farm.
Please post how your jam turned out or send a picture to Ladybirds@pikes-lane.bolton.sch.uk
800g of strawberries
8009 Pectin sugar
Remove the green leaves form the strawberries
Cut and mash the strawberries
Add the sugar
Place into a pan
Heat at a high temperature for 10-20 minutes until all sugar has dissolved and mixture is hot
Pour into large jar and leave to set
The jam will save for a few days, if you sterilise the jars the jam can last weeks.
And we hope you like jammin' too.
