Sign up on this blog for Beat the Boss. Remember to include your first name, class, which multiplication tables you'd like and even request a teacher you'd like to face. Good luck!
How many different ways can you draw a rectangle that has the perimeter of 26cm? Is there an efficient way of working this out?
Welcome back to another year at Pikes Lane. We have now held our first KS1 and KS2 Maths assemblies. We managed to hand out some Mathletic certificates today too. Well done Zainab for 'Beating the Boss' and to 4MP for winning Mathletics class of the week. Who is going to sign up for 'Beat the Boss' for next time?
A big congratulations to our team that entered the Canon Slade Primary Maths Challenge. 20 different teams entered taking children from Year 5 and 6 and our children finished a fantastic third! Great effort and well done!!!!
Our new hoodies have arrived for our Mathletes. Check out the Mathletes display board to find out who our Mathletes are.
Our Mathletes will be helping us from September to use Mathletics, to prepare for Beat the Boss, to help in Maths assembly and many other fun things! They are all very excited. Keep checking back for a photo of them all in their new Mathlete hoodies.
Using the numbers 1, 2, 3 and 4 see if you can make all the numbers from 1 to 20. Sounds easy? The only problem is you have to use 1, 2, 3 and 4 EVERY time. Here are some examples to get you started:
1 + 2+ 3 + 4 = 10
1 x 2 + 3 + 4 = 9
You can use addition, subtraction multiplication and division.
Post your solutions in this blog. Let's see if we can make all 20 numbers.
In this section of the blog, we will share 'Super Maths' from across the school. It might be work in books, children presenting their work or even children busy using their Maths skills. Please add your positive comments to the children's work so we can all share in their achievements.
Remember to sign up for Beat the Boss!!!!
I will make a list of names of those people signed up and then clean the board so if your name isn't still on there... don't panic!
Think about which basic skill you would like to challenge with but remember... the adults in school will be busy practising too.
Click on the button below to take you to some great Maths games. They will help you to learn your multiplication tables, number bonds and lots more. Tell me in this blog which is your favourite game.
Congratulations to all those Key Stage 1 children who received a bronze or silver certificate in assembly this week. Also, a special 'well done' to 2SB who received the Mathletics class of the week certificate.
Looking at Key Stage 2 on Mathletics, I can see that there are already some children who will be receiving a certificate on Tuesday but I wonder which class will win the Mathletics class of the week award.
