Year 5 went to Whitworth Art Gallery as part of Arts Week. They took part in observational drawings and printing. The designs they created were amazing and we had plenty of fun!
On Wellbeing day we have been learning how to save someone's life. Greater Manchester Fire Service came and taught us the recovery position, CPR and how to treat minor injuries. What did you learn? What is DRSABC? Today 5RW completed a parachute investigation. We looked at how air resistance effects the way how something falls back to the ground. They designed and made their own parachutes and tested how effective they were while protecting an egg!
What happened to your parachute? What would you have done differently? What did you learn? Was your parachute successful? We have been investigating which surface an astronaut would struggle walking on. What did you find out? Which surface created the most friction? Was your prediction correct? Year 5 watched 'Zathura' the movie. We have been looking at film reviews all this week. Write your own film review for the film. Did you like it? Why?
We have been learning about flight, balance and fluidity when performing sequences. These children persevered and by the end of the lesson could perform these actions. Welcome back 5RW! Your new theme is Space.
What are you looking forward to learning? Can you name any planets? How does the Earth and Sun orbit? How do we have day and night? We have been learning about children in WW2. We have used primary and secondary sources to find out information. Which resource was the most reliable? What have you learnt? We were fortunate enough to have a poet come to our school and teach us about rhyming couplets and songs. Did you enjoy the poet? Would you agree that poetry isn't pants! |
