We have been learning about King Tutankhamuns tomb being discovered by the archaeologist Howard Carter, in 1922.We have also been learning about the River Nile and that the crops grow by it. The capital city of Egypt is Cairo. Tutankhamun became king when he was nine years old and he died when he was 18.We are now learning about playscripts and we are acting them out as well. Did you know that the Egyptains worshiped many gods?

OK. so first all we drew a picture of an Egyptian farming because we were learning how the Egyptians were farming so we got a picture and we started to draw the picture in our sketch books and after we would finish we would start coloring. The next few weeks we drew another picture but this time we drew something else we drew an amulet and the four canopic jars representing the four sons of Horus Imsety, Duamutef, Hapi and Qebehsenuef. Finally we drew another picture again we drew an amulet but on a booklet because we were going to design an amulet and we were going to make it out of clay and then we traced it on a tracing paper. Lastly we made it out of airdring clay in Mrs Sweet's class.

We have been learning about the tomb was found by a very special archaeologist named Howard Carter who was born in 1874 on may 9th and died in Kensington in London . Everybody said every tomb was found but Howard Carter took a risk and said there is one more tomb left. He had worked in Egypt for 31 years!!!. It had took 5 years to find the tomb of Tutankhamun. there was also another man and his name was called Lord Carnarvon who payed the bills of Howard Carter to find the tomb of Tutankhamun. One day when Howard Carter was near the tomb he had sent a telegram to Lord Canarvon saying that he is near the tomb and that he was going to wait for him so he could also witness the opening of the tomb . the next day the tomb had been fully exposed showing it's 16 steps and Howard Carter was really nervous after all the work he had done. The last day Howard Carter was really excited he went inside the tomb and made a little hole to see what was inside. after Lord Carnarvon asked can you see anything and Lord Canarvon couldn't answer then a few minutes later he said wonderful things. and that is how we know that Howard Carter was famous and that he found a 14th century pharoah

This is what I have learnt about Howard Carter

He was an archaeologist from England working in Egypt. He wanted to find out about the people who lived in Egypt in ancient times.

By 1922, other Archaeologists thought they had found all the tombs but Carter worked out that there was one still left - the tomb of Tutankhamen.

Carter had worked in Egypt for 31 years before he found King Tut's tomb.
Information about Howard Carter?

Howard Carter was born in 1874 in Norfolk, England. He was the son of an artist.

Carter bagan his career in Egypt at the age of 17, using his artistic talents to copy wall paintings and inscriptions.

In 1907, Carter went to work for Lord Carnarvon.

I have learnt about Egyptians and this is what I learnt .
Howard Carter

Howard Carter became famous because of a 4,000 year old man. He was the archaeologist who discovered the tomb of Tutankhamun.

Howard Carter was born 9 May 1874 in Kensington, London to successful artist Samuel Carter. He was a sickly child and was sent to live with his aunts in Norfolk where he was given private home schooling. He had an artistic streak from an early age and when his father painted a well-known Egyptologist, his life-long interest in the field was ignited.
Carter began his archaeological work in Egypt in 1891, at the age of 17, after his father had found him a job as an artist for an archaeologist. There he worked on the excavation of Basi Hassan, the gravesite of the princess of Middle Egypt, circa 2000 BC. Later he was to come under the tutelage of Flinders Petrie.

In 1899, he was offered a position working for the Egyptian Antiquities service, from which he resigned as a result of a dispute, in 1905.After several hard years, Carter was introduced, in 1907, to Lord Carnarvon, an eager amateur who was prepared to supply the funds necessary for Carter's work to continue. Soon, Carter was supervising all of Lord Carnarvon's excavations.

Lord Carnarvon financed Carter's search for the tomb of a previously unknown Pharaoh, Tutankhamen, whose existence Carter had discovered.

On 6 November 1922, Carter found Tutankhamen's tomb, the only unplundered tomb of a Pharaoh yet found in the Valley of the Kings, near Luxor, Egypt.

On 16 February 1923, Carter opened the burial chamber and first saw the sarcophagus of Tutankhamen.

After cataloguing the extensive finds, which was completed in 1932 due to the cornucopia of treasures and artifacts excavated Carter retired from archaeology and became a collector. He spent his later years working in museums and even toured the US giving lectures on Egypt and Tutankhamen, contributing to the nation's interest in the region.

Carter died in England in 1939 at the age of 64 of lymphoma. He was buried in Putney Vale cemetery, London.

On his gravestone, it states: " May your spirit live, May you spend millions of years, You who love Thebes, Sitting with your face to the north wind, Your eyes beholding happiness" and "O night, spread thy wings over me as the imperishable stars."

Google commemorated his 138th birthday with a special doodle on 9 May 2012.

We have been learning about Egyptians and Tutankhamun, ok this is about Gods and Goddesses.

The ancient Egyptians believed in many different gods and goddesses. Each one with their own role to play in maintaining peace and harmony across the land.
Amun was one of the most powerful gods in ancient EgyptAt the height of Egyptian civilisation he was called the 'King of the Gods'.
.Amun was important throughout the history of ancient Egypt. However, when Amun was combined with the sun god Ra he was even more powerful. He was then called Amun-Ra.A large and important temple was built at Thebes to honour Amun.

Anubis was the god of embalming and the dead.
Since jackals were often seen in cemeteries, the ancient Egyptians believed that Anubis watched over the dead.Anubis was the god who helped to embalm Osiris after he was killed by Seth. Thus, Anubis was the god who watched over the process of mummifying people when they died.

Priests often wore a mask of Anubis during mummification ceremonies.

Aten is the disk of the sun in ancient Egyptian mythology, and originally an aspect of Ra. The deified Aten is the focus of the monolatristic, henotheistic, or monotheistic religion of Atenism established by Amenhotep IV, who later took the name Akhenaten in worship and recognition of Aten. In his poem "Great Hymn to the Aten", Akhenaten praises Aten as the creator, and giver of life. The worship of Aten was eradicated by Horemheb.

Atum was a creator god.
The ancient Egyptians believed that Atum was the first god to exist on earth. The ancient Egyptians believed that Atum rose from the waters of chaos (Nun) and created all the gods.

Hapy was the god of the innundation.Hapy was especially important to the ancient Egyptians because he brought the flood every year.

The flood deposited rich silt on the banks of the Nile, allowing the Egyptians to grow crops.

Now ,did you know that there is 114 Gods and Goddesses Egyptians WOW THATS A LOT !!!!!!

We are learning about Animal and my favourite animal is a monkey so i am going to writing fact about monkeys.

There are currently 264 known monkey species.

Monkeys can be divided into two groups, Old World monkeys that live in Africa and Asia, and New World monkeys that live in South America.

A baboon is an example of an Old World monkey, while a marmoset is an example of a New World monkey.

Apes are not monkeys.

Some monkeys live on the ground, while others live in trees.

Different monkey species eat a variety of foods, such as fruit, insects, flowers, leaves and reptiles.

Most monkeys have tails.

Groups of monkeys are known as a ‘tribe’, ‘troop’ or ‘mission’.

The Pygmy Marmoset is the smallest type of monkey, with adults weighing between 120 and 140 grams.

The Mandrill is the largest type of monkey, with adult males weighing up to 35 kg.

Capuchin monkeys are believed to be one of the smartest New World monkey species. They have the ability to use tools, learn new skills and show various signs of self-awareness.

Spider monkeys get their name because of their long arms, legs and tail.

The monkey is the 9th animal that appears on the Chinese zodiac, appearing as the zodiac sign in 2016.
