Can you learn this song for our assembly?
Boudicca’s temporary roundhouse,
A field, Nr. Londinium A.D. 60 Annwyl 3SC, Rwy'n ysgrifennu atoch i ...oops sorry, I forgot you do not speak my native Celt language. As you know things have been tough for us here in Brittania since the Romans came. We have fought hard; day after day, night after night through towns and villages and open fields. Yet still they come. St Albans and London have been destroyed, my army burnt the cities down and we killed many Romans. Sadly, my warriors have been beaten and I had to flee the battle. I had ten times more warriors than the Romans, but they were better trained than we were. The battle has been lost the Romans will take my land and my people will be enslaved. I shall be humiliated. I am a Celtic Queen and some say I should not suffer the humiliation. They say that I should take poison as the land of Iceni now belongs to Rome. Not a chance! I need to move and I’m thinking Rome because it must be sunny as all those Romans were nicely tanned! I need you to research and present to me information about Roman homes to help me choose. All the best, Boudicca. P.S. Please don’t tell Legion IX my address! |
