There's been magic, sport, fun outside and lots and lots of learning!! Welcome to Maths Week...
We have really enjoyed our Maths week in 1JH and have been practising our number skills, our knowledge of shape and measuring and loads more new skills we have never tried before. We have definitely been risk takers!
First we had a visit from two guys who were really fun and taught us some Football Maths....yes FOOTBALL and MATHS....together!!! This was a big hit with our children (especially some of the boys in 1JH). Later on in the day we started to think about our number bonds to 10. We made a fantastic book and had to think of all the different ways to make the numbers 1-10...this was a tricky task but one which we all completed! Well done.
The next day something magical happened....we had a visit from a Maths Magician!! He showed us some excellent tricks and amazed us with his Maths too! This was a pretty special morning! The afternoon was fun too as we looked at lots of shapes, made patterns and hunted for them in and out of school.
On Wednesday we were taught by all the teachers from Year 1 and 2. We using our measuring skills to weigh out ingredients for some yummy chocolate chip cookies mmmm, we measured lots of different things around school and we timed our self in different challenges. This was a busy day!
Thursday was a day for learning new skills, as well as P.E and Music we learnt how to solve a Sudoku puzzle....this was VERY tricky to begin with but our children were FANTASTIC problem solvers and completed them very quickly! We even made a giant grid on the playground and worked as a team to do our own!
On Friday we reflected on the week, we wrote about our busy week and talked about our favourite parts of the fun lessons we had done.
I really hope you have enjoyed Maths week this week and DON'T FORGET....your homework was to go onto Mathletics AND to comment on this blog about what your favourite part of the week was.
Have a fantastic weekend and I look forward to reading your comments :)
